The Dell PowerEdge XE8640 is a high-performance 4U rack server purpose-built to accelerate artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, and high-performance computing workloads. Designed for demanding environments, it delivers exceptional compute power for AI training, inferencing, modelling, and simulation tasks.
Powered by dual 4th or 5th Generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors with up to 64 cores each, the XE8640 supports four NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPUs fully interconnected with NVIDIA NVLink technology. This architecture provides up to 900 GB/s GPU-to-GPU bandwidth, enabling faster training and improved scalability for large AI models. The server also supports NVIDIA Multi-Instance GPU (MIG) technology for efficient multi-tenant environments.
The XE8640 leverages DDR5 memory, PCIe Gen 5.0, and NVMe storage for accelerated I/O throughput. With up to four PCIe Gen 5 slots and multiple NVMe drive bays, it offers flexible expansion for high-performance workloads. Its 4U air-cooled chassis supports next-generation technologies in ambient temperatures up to 35°C, while NVIDIA GPUDirect® Storage ensures direct data paths between GPU memory and storage for reduced latency.
Built with a cyber-resilient architecture, the XE8640 integrates silicon-based root of trust, secure boot, and multi-factor authentication to safeguard critical operations.
