BeeGFS Software HPC
BeeGFS is a flexible easy to use parallel filesystem able to meet a range of design goals.
It can be deployed on standard x86 server hardware or a combination of that and storage arrays. Different storage pools can be combined into a single filesystem such as flash or hard disks, anything that can be mounted in Linux really.
Its intelligent use of in-memory caching can deliver extreme performance at a low cost where high availability is not required. Alternatively high availability can be achieved by mirroring between servers, or if shared storage arrays are used then pacemaker based failover can be used.
BeeGFS is a great cost-effective choice for scratch storage, however for longer term file storage with greater availability requirements we would consider alternatives such as IBM Storage Scale, Lustre, or Ceph.
