OCF customer University of Bimingham wins HPCwire award

We are delighted to share with you that one of our long standing customers, the University of Birmingham, has won the prestigious HPCwire Readers’ and Editors’ Choice Award for ‘Best use of HPC in Manufacturing’.

The award was received for the University’s work with its partner, Rolls Royce. The PRISM2 group, a research centre at the University, is working on a long-term collaborative project with Rolls-Royce, carrying out modelling of materials and manufacturing using the University’s central HPC and storage facility, BlueBEAR.

The innovative research conducted by PRISM2 ensures that the technology employed by Rolls-Royce keeps the UK at the forefront of advanced manufacturing, particularly in the aerospace sector.

OCF has been working with the Advanced Research Computing (ARC) team at the University of Birmingham for a number of years to support BlueBEAR and facilitate access to a wide variety of vendors and partners, to support ARC’s continuous development of its HPC facility. The ARC team is driven to deliver the best value for its researchers at the University and this award is indicative of the University’s commitment to delivering its HPC resources.  Well done to you all!
